Pointwest Technologies

Mac Aydinan is heading the capability development for Artificial Intelligence at Pointwest. He has been exploring the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning for the past two years, and he aims to help build the country's competency in Artificial Intelligence and keep us at the forefront of technology. His main interests lie in computer vision, sound processing, and natural language processing. By combining academic discipline and industry grit, he hopes to contribute in utilizing the Filipino IT talent to aid in solving the country’s problems. Mac holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of the Philippines Diliman and is currently finishing his master's degree in Computer Science from the same university. He also loves baby back ribs, horror movies, and the smell of new books.

Artificial Intelligence has been an active field of research for decades, but the AI industry is only starting to boom. We can expect the AI industry to reach new heights in the next couple of years, and the country needs AI professionals who are ready to take on the challenge of meeting AI demands. In this session, we take a closer look at AI development: the work that it involves, the skills one should develop, the types of projects one would be working on, and the many challenges that one would face.
